Watershed and Stream Delineation Tool

Rumiñahui watershed in Ecuador.

The Watershed and Stream Delineation Tool delineates watersheds and streams of a hydrologic system, based on a digital elevation model (DEM) . The tool minimizes user input, and performs the entire delineation in a single process.

Input:

	Digital elevation model (DEM)
	Threshold (in number of cells)
	Output folder

Output:

	Filled DEM (fdem)
	Flow direction grid (fdr)
	Flow accumulation grid (fac)
	Streams grid (str)
	Links grid (lnk)
	Watersheds grid (wsh)
	Vectorized streams (strl)
	Vectorized watersheds (wshp) . Not displayed in view.
	Vectorized and dissolved watersheds (wshdp)

    Output datasets are displayed in the ArcMap's view and saved in the user-defined output folder. The names in parenthesis are fixed. 

Software Requirements:

	ArcInfo 8.1.2 or ArcView 8.1.2 or a later version
	Spatial Analyst Extension

To download the package:   

If you have installed either Visual Basic 6.0 or later, or Windows XP in your computer:

           Click on the hyperlink and follow the instructions: WSDTSMALL.zip. The package is approximately 20 KB (less than 5 seconds with a 56.6 connection).

            It contains the wsdt dll and the readme file.

If you don't have installed Visual Basic 6.0 or later, and Windows XP in your computer:

           Click on the hyperlink and follow the instructions: WSDTBIG.zip. The package is approximately 2 MB (less than 5 minutes with a 56.6 connection).

           It contains the wsdt dll, the readme file, and the required libraries for running the tool.

An additional shapefile wshdp, in which watershed polygons with the same GRIDCODE are dissolved into a single polygon, is created. The attribute table of wshdp includes an AREA field

on July 25, 2002

 

A "LENGTH" Field has been added to the strl's attribute table.
