Compensation And Claims Manager

The Compensation and Claims Manager (CCM) position is staffed by a legal representative of the corporation or sponsor. If the spiller is unknown, but the response team makes an initial response, this position may be filled by the USCG or EPA until the responsible party or corporate legal representative arrives. The CCM must be familiar with the appropriate response plan, the areas of liability for the spiller, limits of liability, and procedures for handling claims and complaints. In this context, the CCM receives and processes claims for damage attributable to the spill and subsequent response activities.
