Health/Safety Officer

The Health/Safety Officer (HSO) is responsible for the safety of all activities associated with the response, compliance with applicable safety laws and regulations, assessing hazardous or unsafe situations, and developing measures for assuring personnel safety. The HSO shall be assigned emergency authority to suspend or correct any operations deemed as unsafe or to stop individual unsafe acts. Assistants may be required and assigned from other agencies, the corporation, or departments making up the unified command.
