Oil Spill Simulation In The Galveston Bay

Description: The simulation was created using the OIL MAP software. The Spill time is assumed to be from 3/17/2001 23:00:00. The spill site is assumed to be at 29.58530 Latitude and 94.86962 Longitude (94.8696 W, 29.5853 N) and the Oil type is assumed to be MEDIUM CRUDE OIL. The Spill Amount is assumed to be 10000 Barrels and the Spill Duration is assumed to be 3 Hours.

The Simulation was run for 36 Hours. The wind speed is assumed to be 15 knots constant towards North East. The water temperature is assumed to be 59 F.

Currents Simulation: This animation shows the ocean currents in the area. It was obtained from historical data.

Oil Spill Simulation: This animation shows the movement of oil in the ocean.

Mass Balance Graph: This show the Mass Balance Graph for the Spill with time.

Mass Balance Pie Chart: This is the Mass Balance pie chart showing the oil spilled, on surface, evaporated and on land.

Mass Balance Listing: This gives the radius, viscosity and thickness of oil with respect to time.

Oil Weathering Listing: This gives the weathering rates for the oil.
